What We Do
Asbestos
Asbestos Inspections
ECG’s Illinois-licensed building inspectors conduct visual inspections and material sampling of building materials in commercial facilities or homes. In any given project, the number of samples collected depends on the quantity, type, and distribution of suspect materials. The samples are analyzed for asbestos content through the use of Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM). PLM is the EPA-recognized method for determining asbestos content in bulk samples. ECG issues a final report that summarizes the testing results and lists the location and estimated quantity of asbestos materials.
Mold
Mold Inspections
ECG mold inspectors perform the following types of inspections at in commercial facilities or homes:
• Visual inspections; may include use of a video boroscope to inspect wall cavities
• Testing moisture levels in building materials near mold growth using a Protimeter Surveymaster.
• Material sampling of building materials utilizing various methods, including the tape-lift method, bulk sampling (collecting a portion of the material), using swabs to wipe surfaces, and spore trap cassette-collection of airborne mold samples. All samples are then sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Following inspections, ECG issues a final report that summarizes the testing results and lists the types of mold, the sample locations, and the estimated quantity.
A typical residential mold inspection costs $400, plus an additional $75 for each sample collected. Prices are subject to change depending on location and property size.
